Diocesan Synod Elections: Nominations sought

Want the chance to have your say in how the diocese is run? Have experience in education, environment, finance, funding (& more)? Your skills are valuable and needed.

The Diocesan Synod is a democratically elected body which has an important role in deciding the strategic direction of a diocese. This summer the Synod will have elections to determine who will serve on it for the next three years. We know that God calls people to various ministries in His Church – is God calling you to this one?

Could you go on the streets and tell people Jesus Loves them?

If you asked most Christians to go out into the streets of their local community to share the good news that Jesus loves them, the first response would probably be along the lines of, “Not on your nelly”.

Yet that’s what lies at the heart of The Turning, and that’s exactly what is planned to happen this month (May) in Falmouth. It’s a mission that has united the churches in and around Falmouth and Penryn who came together to pray and to become equipped and trained to do that most seemingly scary of things, approach a random stranger and say, “I’ve got two things to tell you really quickly: God loves you and has an awesome plan for your life”

Walking Festival starts Saturday

A festival of walking is being planned during May along the Cornish Celtic Way. Between May 5 and 20, a series of guided walks will take place along the route that is inspired by journeys and settlements linked with the Cornish Celtic saints.

Parish Training Days

The Parish Training Days will be taking place in May and June and many of you have signed up for the various sessions on offer. However, if you don’t have time to attend a full session or you have questions about lots of different areas, then drop-in to our Market Place sessions. You do not have to book for the Market Place allowing you to pop in, get some advice or information, and go. If you wish to book in for specific sessions then there are still spaces available.

Funding for holiday school meals projects

Cornwall Councils Well-being and Public Health Team has established a funding opportunity for existing or new voluntary and community organisations and charitable groups to pilot a programme that extends the offer of free school meals to children and families during the school summer holidays.

The council is seeking proposals from interested community groups, voluntary and charitable organisations that can deliver a series of activity based sessions during the school summer holiday period of July 24 to September 4, 2018 that provide a free nutritionally balanced meal and an activity for children and families.

This Saturday sees the first diocesan Synod of 2018 at County Hall, Truro. Among the items under discussion: Renewal & Reform, a report from General Synod, MMF changes and Total Return.The Annual General Meeting of the Truro Diocesan Board of Finance Limited.
