FIRST Sunday in Advent: An extremely windy Advent Sunday service at Morwenstow Parish Church at 9.30am was celebrated by 14 brave and fearless people who struggled down to the Church, arriving windswept and unkempt, but nevertheless full and ready to celebrate the beginning of another seasonal year in preparation for Christmas. The service was led by our worship leader, Richard Painter and the organist, Luke Francis played hymns aptly fitting in with the theme of waiting and expectation. The first ring of candles on the Advent Candle Tree was lit by Bridget Inch and the names of those loved ones who we wished to always be united to, were read out, the proceeds from this, this Advent are being donated to “Headway”. The Gospel was read by the Rev Richard Ward-Smith and the collection was taken by Frank Whitehead. At the close of the service our departure from the church up the path was made easier by strong, following winds. Most certainly a day to be remembered.
