SISTER Alison Hardy led the Holy Communion service at the Parish Church on the second Sunday in Advent. Shorne Tilbey lit the second ring of candles on the advent candle tree. Arthur Bryant took up the offering. The theme of the service was Advent and the relevance of the biblical Prophets and our modern day counterparts.
SERVICE OF FIVE CANDLES was held at the Parish Church on the third Sunday in Advent. Sister Alison Hardy gave the introduction and Barbara Usher and Shorne Tilbey led the service. Richard Painter, Judith Smeeth and Sandra Cheshire read the readings. Arthur Bryant took up the collection which was for the Bude Refugee Group towards the funds they need for the reception shortly of two Syrian families into the Bude area. Luke Francis was the organist. The five candles were brought up and lit by various people and with their badges on the candle stand portrayed the five main festivals of the Church year.
PARISH CHURCH Carol Service was held on the fourth Sunday in Advent at 9.30am and was led by Rev Richard Ward-Smith with Luke Francis playing the organ. The service commenced with Richard Painter lighting the fourth ring of candles on the Advent Candle Tree. Lessons were read by: John Cleave, Shorne Tilbey, Linda Tilbey, Ruth Heighton-Jackson, Judith Smeeth and Richard Painter. The offertory was taken up by Shorne Tilbey. The Church was beautifully decorated for the service with holly and ivy, red poinsettias and many burning candles.
